Quran is a holy text which has had an active and dynamic presence throughout the Islamic history and culture. Additionally, it counts as a historical document which is revealed in a certain historical and cultural context. In this regard, the relation between between Quran and culture can be considered as mutual.
On one hand, Quran has a cultural bond with its own time of revelation. In other words, Quran was revealed at an era and that era has its own cultural characteristics. It is impossible to imagine that Quran has no links with the cultural context of its revelation era, but it is important to find out how it is linked to it.
On the other hand, the revival of the motto “return to Quran” by reformist such as Seyed Jamaluddin Asadabadi, especially under the unfluence of Islamic reformist movement in the Islamic world, one of the primary reasons leading to the stagnation and latency of the Islamic world is distancing from Quranic culture.
This group believe that the return to the Islamic Golden Age is subject to return to Quran and revival of teachings of Quran in the society.
The important question we are facing in this part is that does Quran have such capacity fundamentally? And if yes, how cultural capacities of Quran can be applied into practice in the society?
Below you can find the names of the professors and the topics that will be covered during the program.
